I am a Durham university Economics graduate with over 20 years experience teaching Economics. Following my degree I spent a year in Kenya with Africa Inland Mission teaching Commerce, Maths and Physics at Achego Girls Secondary School. I returned to Durham to complete my PGCE in Secondary Mathematics. I spent 4 years teaching Economics, Business Studies and Maths at a leading girls boarding school before moving the Midlands to teach Economics and Business Studies at a boys school. I left this position in July 2022 to tutor full time.
I am an examiner for GCSE and A level where I have over 15 years experience including being a senior examiner. This means I know how the questions need to be answered and can help students understand the mark scheme and jump through the hoops required to gain the marks.
I started online tutoring using zoom in the Summer of 2020 and found that using an interactive whiteboard which both myself and the student can write on is just as effective as face to face tutoring.
As a sixth form tutor for over 20 years I have extensive experience of personal statements. Please get in touch if you would like a session going through your personal statement. Fees are the same for Economics tutoring.
I have recently written some workbooks to help students consolidate their learning. They can also be used as a revision tool. These can be purchased on Amazon using this link. I can offer them at a slightly reduced rate to my tutees.
I have a uTube channel with some power point videos on topics I covered with my classes during lockdown as well as some walk through of exam questions. Follow this link.
For more information on what 121 tutoring is like with me follow the ‘lessons’ link at the top of the page.
In my spare time I have three main interests – running, my cats and playing the violin. I am a member of the 100 marathon club and have represented England twice running 100km in the Anglo Celtic Plate. I have a violin performance diploma (DipABRSM) and have two ragdoll cats which I adore.
